Departmental Administration

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center is one of New York City’s largest. We have a 45-member clinical faculty, including general obstetrician-gynecologists and subspecialists in seven major divisions. Annually, we perform over 6,500 deliveries, 3,000 gynecologic surgeries, 46,000 fetal evaluations, and 26,000 clinic visits. Our 4-year, 24-member residency program is ACGME certified and includes clinical rotations throughout the subspecialties.

The department is headed by Interim Chairman Daniel E. Stein, MD; Administrator Jeffrey R. Singerman; Residency Program Director Lois E. Brustman, MD, and the Clinical Division Directors.

Dr. Stein became Interim Chairman on January 1, 2012. He is a longtime, well-respected faculty physician of the department, with a subspecialty practice in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; he is Medical Director of the Continuum Reproductive Center’s In Vitro Fertilization Laboratory and has held that role since the center opened in 2005. His research and clinical interests include the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome in women wishing to conceive, IVF in general, and minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery.

Lois E. Brustman, MD, Residency Program Director, has held that role for more than 10 years, and is dedicated to providing an all-encompassing curriculum to the department’s 24 residents, including their involvement in ongoing clinical research projects across the subspecialty areas of the discipline. In addition, she is a faculty subspecialist in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division.

Barak Rosenn, MD, is Director of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and supervises all activities of the Labor and Delivery Suite, Birthing Center, and Fetal Evaluation Unit, as well as high-risk pregnancy care and the MFM Fellowship Program.

Jacques Moritz, MD, is Director of the Gynecology Division, which includes all of the department’s general obstetrician-gynecologist faculty. Please see the organizational chart for a detailed overview of the department’s structure and its leaders in administration, clinical practice, research, and teaching. Additional information about each of the directors and faculty members can be found on their biographical pages on this site.
