The Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates offices located at 1090 Amsterdam serve Morningside Heights, Upper West Side, and West Harlem. Each physician at the offices is highly trained in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology, and board eligible or board certified in the specialty. Louise Annlea Chuu, MD, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her medical degree at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt hospitals. While here, she was involved in clinical research that evaluated external cephalic version. Version is used in pregnancies when the fetus is in a breech position; when successful, it allows vaginal delivery and avoids Cesarean section. Shonda M. Corbett, MD, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her doctorate in medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark. While in medical school, Dr. Corbett was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, and received six alumni association awards for her academic performance. Dr. Corbett received her training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt, where she served as administrative chief resident in 2003. Suite 6A; phone 212-523-5179.
Allegra Cummings, MD, has been a faculty attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt since 2002; she is also an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Dr. Cummings’ residency training in obstetrics and gynecology took place at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt. In 2001, her resident colleagues awarded her the department’s David B. Crawford Prize, and she was also finalist for a teaching award given by the medical students at Columbia University. Suite 6A; phone 212-523-5179.
Lily Awatif Hanna, MD, MPH, is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her master’s degree at Tulane University School of Public Health and her medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. While there, she received a scholarship from the Jefferson Parish Medical Society, and held leadership roles, including the presidency, in the medical honor society. Lealani Rodriguez, MD, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Harvard University, where she received an academic scholarship and maintained a position on the dean’s list. She went on to receive her doctorate from the Howard University College of Medicine. She then pursued residency training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Beth J. Simon, MD, joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2002, and in 2003, became director of Ambulatory Obstetrics and Gynecology for St. Luke's Hospital. In addition, she is an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She studied medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) in Bronx, New York. She remained at AECOM for her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, serving as administrative chief resident in her final year, 2001-2002. Suite 6A; phone 212-523-5179.

The physicians provide all aspects of general obstetric and gynecologic care, including:

  1. General primary and preventive health care for women;
  2. Prenatal care and all obstetrical services, including labor and delivery;
  3. Birth control, complete gynecologic exams, and testing;
  4. HPV testing and vaccine to help prevent cervical cancer;
  5. Medical and surgical care for gynecologic problems, including fibroids, abnormal bleeding, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Right across the street at St. Luke’s Hospital, patients enjoy a range of advanced testing and surgery for gynecological conditions. Complex prenatal care and tests are administered in Roosevelt Hospital’s Fetal Evaluation Unit, located only a few miles south near Columbus Circle. Labor and delivery takes place in Roosevelt Hospital’s outstanding obstetrics suite.
