Dr. Ganz's area of specialization is the comprehensive care of women with HIV, herpes, and other infections, including during pregnancy, labor and delivery. He is an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Since 1999, he has been Grand Rounds Coordinator for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt, inviting notable lecturers in the field. Dr. Ganz was also voted "1999 Teacher of the Year" by obstetrics and gynecology residents here, and thus received the National Faculty Award of the ACOG Committee on Resident Education. Dr. Ganz received his bachelor's degree from Duke University and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Ganz has received several grants and awards that have furthered his work for women with HIV. Among them, in 1999 he was awarded a research grant that allowed him to carry out studies on the best ways to educate and counsel pregnant women with HIV. Also, in 2002, he received grant support to attend a training conference on herpes education.
