  • Minimally-invasive, laparoscopic surgery for gynecologic cancers, including complex procedures aided by the da Vinci Robot.
  • Minimally-invasive treatment of complicated non-cancerous gynecological problems.
  • Research into treatments for gynecologic cancers.

Konstantin Zakashansky, MD, is an experienced gynecologic oncologist whose skills encompass all aspects of the subspecialty, from diagnosis through the most advanced minimally-invasive surgery. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as in gynecologic oncology.

Since completing his fellowships in 2007, Dr. Zakashansky has been a full-time faculty member in the Gynecologic Oncology Division of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, holding an assistant professorship there until 2013, when he was promoted to associate professor.

In addition, from 2008 until 2015, he was director of the Gynecologic Oncology Division at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, and also, served as co-director of Gynecologic Oncology at St. Vincent’s Medical Center from 2008-2010, and as director of Gynecologic Oncology at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in the Bronx from 2007-2008. He joined the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West in July 2015.

In 2013, Lutheran Medical Center honored him with the “Excellence in Resident Teaching Surgical Specialties Award.” He was also recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and has received numerous other awards for his abilities as a physician and surgeon.

Dr. Zakashansky is principal investigator on two major randomized, controlled studies of chemotherapeutic agents for women with ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancers; in addition, he is principal investigator of a third study comparing radiation therapy to a combination of surgery and chemotherapy for women with endometrial cancer. He has numerous publications encompassing the study of gynecologic cancer, including minimally-invasive surgical treatments and chemotherapy, and has made presentations of these findings at national meetings.

Dr. Zakashansky is a member of the Society for Gynecologic Oncology, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, International Gynecologic Cancer Society, American Medical Association, and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
