Dr. Rodriguez earned her bachelor’s degree at Harvard University, where she received an academic scholarship and maintained a position on the dean’s list. She went on to receive her doctorate from the Howard University College of Medicine. While there, she was recognized for outstanding performance in her obstetrics and gynecology clerkship in 2002 and was recipient of the Bioethics Award in 2001. She received scholarships for academic achievement through all four years of medical school. She then pursued residency training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. During her final year, she was administrative chief resident, and received the Society for Laparoendoscopic Surgeons’ Resident Achievement Award.
While an undergraduate at Harvard and after her first year in medical school, Dr. Rodriguez worked in a variety of internships that stressed good communication between health care provider and patient. She interviewed patients to learn the effectiveness of an asthma management program in New York City. She recruited participants and conducted educational interviews for an HIV vaccine study in high risk populations, also in NYC. She provided health counseling at Planned Parenthood of Suffolk County, at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, she coordinated an AIDS prevention study for Spanish-speaking Latinas.
Dr. Rodriguez is eligible for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is interested in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology.
