Dr. Lisa Anderson attended medical school at the University of Bologna, Italy, and trained in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where she received the 1986 Harold Schulman Award for Excellence in Research. She then did a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, affiliated with Harvard University School of Medicine. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and in gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Anderson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all gynecologic malignancies, complicated non-malignant gynecologic problems, and premalignant diseases. In addition, she has a special interest in the detection and treatment of cervical dysplasia in HVI-positive women; in the late 1990s, she conducted a five-year study on the subject, which was funded by the American Cancer Society. At present, she is principal investigator for a study of time-resolved imaging of neoplastic cervical acetowhitening—another technique for the detection of cervical abnormalities.
Dr. Anderson was chosen by the department’s residents as their best teacher among our faculty physicians in 2003, and thus, she received the National Faculty Award of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
