Dr. Brustman joined the Division of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine in 2000, and is also director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department's Residency Program. Just prior to her arrival here, Dr. Brustman served for ten years as director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and director of the Maternal-Fetal Assessment Center at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. From 1998 until 2000, she was also associate director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology there. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and in the maternal-fetal medicine subspecialty. Her professional interests include preconception counseling, diabetes in pregnancy, and prematurity prevention.
Dr. Brustman earned her medical degree from the New York Medical College. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she also did a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. During her fellowship at Einstein, she served as director of medical student teaching, medical director for the Prematurity Prevention Program and Clinic, and member of the Diabetes Research and Training Center.
Dr. Brustman was local section chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2001, was board member of the National Council of Women in Medicine from 1986-1992, and is a member of the New York Obstetrical Society, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Brustman was recognized in New York Magazine’s list of "The Best Doctors in New York" in 1999, 2000 and 2001.
