Dr. Zhanna Rutstein-Shulina began her medical career in Latvia, where she obtained her doctorate in medicine, completed a residency program in obstetrics and gynecology, and practiced in a community hospital for four years. She then came to the United States, and obtained a doctorate of osteopathy at The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she received several awards for her academic achievements, including the Zarou Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
From 2004 through 2007, Dr. Rutstein-Shulina received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals, where she was administrative chief resident in her final year. Upon graduation, she became a faculty attending physician at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she remained for one year. In 2009, she joined the faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals.
Dr. Rutstein-Shulina is interested in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology; she supports labor and birth in Roosevelt’s special Birthing Center, as a patient option in low-risk deliveries. She is board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology, and is a junior fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. |
