Beth Detroyer, LM, CM, MS, earned her master of science degree in midwifery from SUNY Downstate Medical Center; at graduation in 2016, she received the Academic Excellence Award.
During her program of midwifery studies at SUNY, Ms. Detroyer attended a summer semester exchange program in 2014 at the Kingston University in London, focusing on international women’s healthcare policy. In this program, Ms. Detroyer benefited from the British national healthcare system’s successful integration of the midwifery model of care in the provision of health care services to women and children.
Also while at SUNY Downstate, she completed five clinical rotations at area hospitals, including full-scope midwifery at North Central Bronx Hospital, where she provided family planning, well-woman, prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care; and newborn rotation at Kings County Hospital Center, providing exams to low-risk infants. Also regarding her clinical experience, Ms. Detroyer was a doula from 2011 through 2016, providing emotional and physical support to women and their partners through pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
Ms. Detroyer is certified as a midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board; in basic life support by the American Heart Association; in neonatal resuscitation by the Neonatal Resuscitation Program; and as a doula by DONA International.
