Tamara Belkin, CNM, recently joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the faculty practice of Renuka Paka, MD. She comes to us from the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Family Health Center. There, she was part of a 17-midwife team providing full-scope reproductive health care for women, including gynecologic care, family planning, and care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. At Bronx Lebanon, Ms. Belkin cared for women from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including Latina and African women, and communicated in English and Spanish.

Ms. Belkin has a wealth of experience as a supportive healthcare worker. As a certified doula in Santa Monica, she provided continuous emotional and physical support to women during childbirth. She has also worked as an emergency medical technician and as a health educator on a wide range of issues.

In the practice of Dr. Paka, she provides continuous care throughout pregnancy, during the birth process, and in the postpartum period; offers choice and flexibility to couples and families, attending births in the Roosevelt Hospital Birthing Center or in the Labor and Delivery Suite; and offers well-woman gynecologic care and family planning. Dr. Paka will co-manage any complications of pregnancy. Ms. Belkin is fluent in Spanish as well as English.
