St. Luke's-Roosevelt's Ultrasound Centers are equipped to diagnose all fetal and gynecological problems, using the latest technology. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists use conancies, including comprehensive ultrasound scans to detect fetal abnormalities throughout pregnancy. We also perform fetal evaluations in normal pregnancies, including dating, growth and activity evaluation with biophysical profile.
We accept referral from a patient's personal physician for diagnosis of potential fetal abnormalities and for other procedures listed below. Potential fetal abnormalities are treated as emergency cases, with appointments made on same-day basis, or as early as desired. A maternal-fetal medicine specialist trained in ultrasound is in each unit at all times for consultation.

During a patient's visit to the ultrasound center, she will be immediately informed of the test results and they will be phoned to her personal physician by the consulting specialist. If the patient desires it, an appropriate plan of management will be developed, taking her personal needs and wishes into account.
Management of fetal abnormalities is handled comprehensively. The evaluation centers are part of the high risk pregnancy division and our maternal-fetal medicine specialists work in contact with a geneticist and genetic counselors. Further diagnosis by fetal echocardiography is also available. A pediatric cardiologist evaluates specific fetal heart problems and co-manages cardiac cases with the maternal-fetal medicine team.
